We will be in touch base with you shortly to make sure you and your team are ready to start playing! Every player on your team will also have to register as APA Members. Member registration can done online through Member Services.

What does it cost?
$30 annual membership and $10 when you play a match.

What if I don't have enough players?
That's okay! You can register with as many players as you have (even just 2-3) and we will help you fill your team roster! There are always players looking to join teams. If you are a single player looking to join - register as a member or shoot us a message and we will place you on a suitable team!

Where do we play?
Once you gather a team, choose your favorite bar with at least one pool table. We, the local APA office, will contact the bar owners to make sure we have their consent. During the session your team will alternate locations every other week. One week you will be at your home bar and the next will be an away game at your opponents home bar. The schedule is posted clearly for all team members to see many weeks in advance so you can schedule accordingly.

How long is a session?
Sessions last 14-16 weeks with a week of Playoffs/ Finals. There are three sessions a year. Summer, Fall & Spring.

What does a night of league look like?
At 7pm on the week nights your team and your opponents will begin to gather at your scheduled bar. The captains will flip a coin to see which team puts up the first player. Once a player is chosen the other team chooses a player to put up against the chosen player. These two players then play out a race of games based on their skill level. Two skill level 3s, for example, will play a 2- 2 race. This means they will play until one of the players gets two wins. Once the match is over, it is time for another player to be put up and the other team to choose who will play against them. This is repeated for 5 matches.

How do I get a skill level?
All new members start off as skill level 3s unless known to be higher through play or other pool skill rating systems. Once you start playing, your matches will be entered into the APA handicapping skill level algorithm and math takes care of it from there. You can expect for your first 10 matches to change levels multiple times until your skill level smooths out by average.

What if I cant be there by 7pm or I have an early morning? What if I travel?
These are things that can be easily worked around! A league night consists of 5 players each playing about an hour match. If you are an early riser, you can arrange with your team to be one of the first to play. Or if you work till 8, you can be one of the last to play. It is not necessary for the whole team to be there the entire night. It will just take some planning and communication on your teams part.

Each team is made of up to 8 players, but only 5 play per night. This allows flexibility for the team incase members travel or fall sick, have an event to attend etc. Some teams choose to pre-plan which 5 team members will play for the week- so the non-playing team members know they have the night off ahead of time.

What are the APA rules??
The short hand. The APA rules are: you are what you break, ball in hand for both pocket or table scratch (except on the break), no call any shot except the 8-Ball, scratch on the 8 is a loss.
The long hand. Full and throughout APA rules can be found here in the Official APA rule book

Hi! We are your local league operators Matt and Amy Kolacki. We have been playing in the APA for eight years and took over management of the league in April 2022. Besides our borderline obsession with the game of pool, we love the tight knit community of people we have met through the APA and it's commitment to the continued growth and accessibility of the sport all over the world. We are so happy to play the role of league operators so that we can continue to facilitate the experience and community for old and new members alike.
